Jim Garrity Recovers $400,000 for High School Principal

A high school voted yesterday to approve a $400,000 settlement in a discrimination lawsuit we filed against it on behalf of the school’s former principal, Michelle Gainer.  The settlement brings to a close a two-year saga that began when Gainer and her assistant principal, Erin Harper, came forward together to report gender discrimination, sexual harassment and retaliation.  Their complaint also included reports from female students of possible inappropriate conduct toward them by a high-ranking school official.  The media reported on this settlement earlier today. (Bay Haven Charter Academy Lawsuit Settled for $400,000).

Jim Garrity previously represented Assistant Principal Harper in a similar lawsuit, which settled in June 2017.   You can read more about that here: School, Former Assistant Principal Settle Whistleblower Lawsuit For $150,000.

The settlement allows both parties to move forward and to put this matter behind them.
