Saleswoman Sues Car Dealer After Manager’s Nudist Camp Invite

FLORIDA – A saleswoman fired after just 45 days on the job has sued the dealer, alleging she was sexually harassed and then immediately fired for reporting it.

Jim Garrity represents the woman.

During her short tenure, the lawsuit says, she passed dozens of standard tests about the manufacturer’s vehicles. These showed she had quickly developed deep expertise. During this training phase, however, a manager befriended her and signaled that he could help her career. At the same time, he disclosed he was a “naturist” or “naturalist,” belonged to a nudist camp, and wanted her to join him. The lawsuit asserts that our client became uncomfortable about the manager’s intentions. So she complained to a higher manager and to a human resources officer.

According to the lawsuit, the dealership didn’t solve her problem. Rather, it came up with a way to get rid of her. It made up a test – not one of the standard tests, but a one-of-a-kind test with ambiguous questions that had many possible answers. It also included matters she had not been trained on, The dealership ambushed her with the test, claimed she failed, and fired her.

The lawsuit raises claims of sexual harassment and retaliation. We are asking the court to award damages for wage loss, pain and suffering, and other types allowed by law. The case has been filed in federal court.
